Import Any Email Template Into GoHighLevel With AI
Every marketer has seen an email they wanted to steal the design of. Clean header, perfect spacing, a call-to-action that actually stands out. In the past, copying that email into GoHighLevel meant rebuilding it block by block in the drag-and-drop editor. That is time you do not have when you are running an agency or managing multiple client accounts.
GoHighLevel just shipped a feature that changes this completely. You can now forward any email to a generated address, and the platform uses AI to rebuild the design inside your account as a fully editable template. It works on emails from any provider, any industry, any level of complexity. And in my testing, it gets you about 80 to 90 percent of the way to a pixel-perfect match in roughly 30 seconds.
In this guide I will walk you through exactly where to find the feature, how to use it step by step, what to expect from the results, and how to combine the AI editor with the manual drag-and-drop builder to get your template production-ready fast.

What This New AI Email Import Feature Actually Does
The feature lives inside the email template builder and is labeled 'Import from any platform with AI.' You get a unique email address, you forward any HTML email to that address, and GoHighLevel's AI reconstructs the email as an editable design inside your account. Unlike the older Mailchimp and Kajabi imports, which require provider-specific integrations, the AI import works with literally any email you can forward.
How It Compares to the Older Import Options
GoHighLevel has had import options for a while, but they were limited to specific platforms. Here is how the new AI option stacks up:
Mailchimp Import: Requires connecting your Mailchimp account. Only imports templates stored in Mailchimp.
Active Campaign Import: Same idea, limited to Active Campaign templates.
Kajabi Import: Added more recently, limited to Kajabi.
AI Import (new): Works with any email from any provider. No account connection needed. Just forward the email.
The AI option makes the provider-specific imports mostly obsolete unless you need to do a bulk migration of hundreds of templates from a single platform.
Where to Find It in GoHighLevel
The feature is buried a few clicks deep, but once you know where it is you will use it constantly. Navigate through the sub-account sidebar:
Click Marketing in the left sidebar.
Select Emails, then choose the Templates tab.
Click the New button at the top right, then choose Import Email.
Look for the option with the AI sparkle icon labeled 'Import from any platform with AI.' Click it to generate a unique import email address.
That generated email address is unique to your account and can be reused. You do not need to generate a new one each time you want to import a template.
Step-by-Step: Forwarding and Importing an Email
Once you have the import email address, the process is straightforward. Here is the full walkthrough.
Copy the unique email address GoHighLevel generated for you.
Open the email you want to copy in your email client (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, whatever you use).
Forward that email to the generated address. Send it as-is, no changes needed. Do not edit the email body or strip any formatting.
Come back to GoHighLevel. The interface will show a progress bar with an estimated time (usually about 5 minutes, but in practice it often finishes in 30 seconds).
Choose whether you want the result opened in the Design Editor or the Code Editor. Design Editor is the right choice for 99 percent of users.
Name your template. Use something descriptive like 'Cold Outreach - Swiped Pages Design' so you can find it later when your template library grows.
Click to open the Template Builder when done.
Quick Tip: Use Descriptive Template Names
As your template library grows, naming becomes important. I recommend a pattern like '[Campaign Type] - [Source/Inspiration] - [Date]'. For example, 'Welcome Sequence - ConvertKit Style - Apr 2026'. This makes searching and filtering much easier down the road, especially if you are managing templates across multiple client sub-accounts.
How Close Is the Imported Template to the Original?
I tested this with an email from Swiped Pages, which uses a relatively complex design with text blocks, colored background sections, buttons, horizontal dividers, and images. When I put the original and the import side by side, they were not pixel-perfect identical, but they were impressively close.
If you want a deeper reference on what makes a strong email template structure, Mailchimp's email design guide is one of the better free resources online.
What the AI Gets Right
Font styles and sizes matched the original.
Text content came through identical, no missing words or formatting errors.
The overall layout structure was preserved, including multi-column sections.
Buttons, links, and call-to-action elements were recreated with the correct text and styling.
What Might Need Manual Cleanup
Some spacing and padding was slightly tighter or wider than the original.
One section was missing a background color that was present in the original.
A couple of padding values on content blocks needed minor adjustment.
Image sizing might not match exactly, especially for full-width hero images.
Overall, the AI got me about 80 to 90 percent of the way there. What would have been 30 to 45 minutes of careful rebuilding turned into about 5 minutes of cleanup. That is a massive time saver, especially if you are building out email campaigns for multiple clients.
Using the AI Chat Editor to Fine-Tune the Result
Once the template is imported, you get access to an AI chat panel next to the visual editor. This is where things get really interesting. You can describe the changes you want in plain English and the AI will apply them directly to the template.
Examples That Worked Well
'Make the header font 5 pixels smaller' - applied correctly within a couple of seconds.
'Make this background black' after clicking on a section - the AI recognized the selected section and changed just that one element without touching anything else.
'Make the font white' as a follow-up - applied correctly without breaking the existing layout.
Tips for Getting the Best Results From the AI Editor
The AI editor is powerful but it works best when you give it specific, targeted instructions. Here are a few tips:
Click on the section you want to change before typing your instruction. The AI uses the selection context to know what you are referring to.
Keep instructions simple. One change at a time gets better results than a paragraph of changes.
Use the manual editor for quick color or font changes that are faster to do with a click. Save the AI for structural changes or batch adjustments.
You cannot edit the template while the AI is processing. Wait for it to finish before making manual changes.
The AI editor and the manual drag-and-drop builder work side by side. You are not forced to choose one or the other. Use whichever is faster for the change you need to make. If you want to learn more about how AI is being used across the platform, our GoHighLevel automation guide covers the broader picture.
Saving and Reusing Your Imported Template
Once the template looks the way you want it, click save. Your template now lives in the Templates tab alongside your other designs, ready to be used in any workflow, broadcast, or one-off email.
Building a Template Library Over Time
One of the best ways to use this feature is to build a curated library of proven email designs. Whenever you receive an email with a layout you like, forward it to your import address. Over time you end up with a collection of high-quality starting points that your team can customize per campaign instead of starting from scratch every time.
If you are managing multiple GoHighLevel sub-accounts, you can use snapshots to share your template library across accounts. And if you have built out workflow actions that you want to reuse, check out how to copy and paste actions between workflows to save even more time.
When to Use AI Import vs. Other Methods
The AI import is not always the best choice. Here is a quick decision guide:
Use AI Import when: you saw an email you like and want to recreate it, you are migrating from a provider that does not have a native GHL integration, or you want to clone your own email from a different platform.
Use Mailchimp/Kajabi Import when: you are doing a bulk migration of dozens or hundreds of templates from one of those specific platforms.
Build from scratch when: you have a very specific brand guideline that requires pixel-perfect precision, or you want to start with one of GoHighLevel's built-in templates and customize from there.
What Is Coming Next: AI Across GoHighLevel
This email import feature is just one example of how AI is getting woven deeper into the GoHighLevel platform. The AI workflow builder (which I covered in my tutorial on setting up failed payment notifications) uses the same approach: describe what you want in plain English and the platform builds it for you.
GoHighLevel has also released an AI vibe coder for building funnels and websites. See our walkthrough on triggering automations from AI Studio forms for the form-side of that workflow. If you are not already using the AI tools inside the platform, now is the time to start. They are improving with every release and they are already saving hours of manual work per week.
Final Thoughts
What used to be a pain point, copying a design from somewhere else, is now a 30-second task. If you have been putting off a design refresh because you did not have time to rebuild everything from scratch, this feature removes that excuse entirely. Forward the email, wait 30 seconds, clean up the edges, and you are done.

[0:00] Hey there! In this short video I am going to show you how you can import any email template into your AlphaBlossom CRM. or if you're a HighLevel user into your HighLevel account. It's a super easy. The now a feature where you can actually grab a specific link from your account. Forward any email to that link and then using AI HighLevel will build that template inside of your own account. It's super simple. If you stay to the end I got a few tips. And a few important things that you need to understand. When using this. But I'll show you in the short video just how easy it is to set up. So for example you get an email from somebody you love the look of the template.
[0:36] Or even if it's your own template from a different platform you can send that email to yourself. And then you can email that. Forward that email to yourself given the link that they give you in their account. And then AI is going to automatically build that for you. Then you can just go in and do the tweaks and things like that. And talk about how accurate it is. I show you an example of how well it works. So it's super cool. Super simple. It'll make more sense when you watch a video. But it's just a great way for you to copy a template from any platform into your own HighLevel account. So you can start using that to send out your emails.
[1:08] So let's jump into it. Before you do If you're not already subscribed to my channel click that subscribe button down below. If you got any questions leave a comment. I try to answer every comment. And I'm happy to help in any way I can. If you are new to HighLevel and you're looking to sign up and you need some support and things like that. We got a free community down below. I also have my affiliate link down below so if you sign up for that I'm happy to support you on your journey. Share resources and things like that. So let's jump into it. And I'll show you how it's done. So you received an email that you really like the look of the template.
[1:44] And you want to copy this inside of your AlphaBlossom CRM. Or if you're if you have your own HighLevel account you want to copy this inside of your HighLevel account. And it looks like a lot of work. So. I'm going to show you a new feature inside of our CRM. That lets you copy this. So if you head over into Marketing. And you go to Emails. You’re going to Templates. And then we're going to click a New. And Import Email. And now you can see got our options. In the past we've had MailChimp Active Campaign and more recently Kajabi. But now you can see we have a new option with the AI symbol. That says import from any platform with AI.
[2:24] Super simple. Copy the email ID provided. Send a test mail from your email provider. And then once the email is sent click continue. So what we're going to do is we're going to copy this. We're going to head back to our email. And I'm going to forward this email to the email address that we received. And just we're going to click send. That's it on the email side. And we're going to go back here. And then we have the option of opening in the Design Editor or in the Code Editor. Typically I use a design editor. That's where you can do drag and drop and things like that. So we're going to select that and click continue.
[2:59] It's estimated time is four minutes and 55 seconds. So I'm going to pause the video and I'll come back once this is done. And now we'll show you the results. And then what to do from there. It successfully completed. You can name the template here. So we're going to just name this AI Import from email. You'll want to use a better description of course. And then we're going to open in the design editor. And then open Template Builder when done. So again just to confirm this literally took about 30 seconds even though it said it was going to take about four minutes or so. So now let's see what we've got. We're going to create the template here.
[3:33] So while we're doing this let's go back and preview the email. That we were trying to copy. And so this is from Swiped Pages. You can see we've got a little text. We've got some different color boxes. Buttons. Images. And things like that. So let's see what's going on here. While it imports. And it's moving over. So now you can see let's just compare this to the original. Let's actually compare these side by side. I'm just going to make this a little smaller. And let me make this screen a little smaller. Let's do this one here. So you can compare the two side by side. And. That's not exact. But you can see it's pretty close.
[4:16] It looks like the same font styles. Here's where you can drop your content For these 4 boxes here. The text is definitely all the same. Very similar. So you can see here we've got some spacing issues a little bit. It's got the horizontal dividers. This section is missing the background. But overall it's pretty close. I mean it's going to gets you probably about 80-90% of the way there. And so yeah let's go back to this one here. And so now you can just come in and just make whatever adjustments you want. So I mean it's very close. It gets you most of the way there. Here's where you can drop your additional content. You can copy things.
[5:05] So this one you can see this padding is kind of different. Maybe you don't want to match that. But we actually have 24. So anyways it pulls in the majority of it. It definitely gets you a nice start. The main structure is the same and things like that. Then you can save this as a template that you can reuse once you get it done the way you want it to be done. So I think it's really good. And the first step is just came out probably a week or two ago. And I'm not sure this AI is just for content. This is for content here. So I don't know over here. Let's see. You can use AI to continue to make improvements to it.
[5:48] So. Let's say make the header font 5 pixels smaller. Let's see what happens there. And there you go. You can see it's reduced the header size by 5 pixels. So you can use this AI builder. Kind of do with vibe code website builders and things if you're familiar with those. But basically you can just update this via chat with your AI. And you can change anything you want to. So you click on a section here. Maybe. And you can see here that when you click on the section it shows the section here. So maybe we can say make this background black. And then. As it's working you can't do any edits while it's working. Which is a good idea.
[6:30] But now you can see the background is black. And then make the font. White. So it should do that. Perfect. But the cool thing is you can also just come in here and you can edit your items like normal. So if you want to change your font size you just come up here and you can change that. And so you can still use the editor. And you can use the AI both at the same time. And you know if you want something you want to quickly change manually you can just come in here and let's say you want to change the font color to this to blue. Or red. Let's say red. You can just come and do that.
[7:07] So you can use a builder but you can also pop over to the AI and just type in. The changes you want. So I think this is a really cool feature. And then you just come in here you save your template. and it's been saved. So now you want to go back and reuse that template. You've AI import from email. You can see there's a template and we can use that for different things. So. Super awesome feature. If you want to carry a template over from a different provider. There's ways to do it from inside a HighLevel. But this is just a really cool way to do it. If you saw something you like or you know maybe an email marketplace or something like that.
[7:40] So. Hopefully you found this helpful. As you can see AI is making its way deeply into the platform. Next I'm going to talk about the new AI vibe coder. Which is absolutely amazing. There's a lot of things you can do. That may not come to mind. So I'm going to show you some of those in the next video as well. So make sure you stay tuned for that. And hopefully you found this helpful. you found this helpful. All right. So you can see HighLevel is going deep in the AI. And this is just one of the many features that they have to make our lives easier. So it's super easy for you to now bring any email template into the platform.
[8:12] And use it for your own. So hopefully you found this video helpful. Once again click that subscribe button down below. Join my free community. Be able to help you guys in there.
