Duration: Approximately 7 minutes | Published: August 18, 2026

Learn how to safely unpublish individual GoHighLevel website and funnel pages while setting up smart redirects or custom 404s to preserve SEO authority and traffic.

Key Takeaways:

  • Targeted Page Controls: Take down individual funnel steps or site pages without taking down the full site or risking broken domain connections.

  • Smart Traffic Rerouting: Configure seamless 301-style redirects to internal pages or external domains directly from the unpublish dialog box.

  • Search Authority Protection: Prevent dead ends and maintain accumulated backlinks by directing legacy traffic away from outdated offers or deprecated pages.

  • Custom 404 Routing: Pair single-page unpublishing with a custom 404 handler to guide lost visitors back into your lead generation funnel.

  • Flexible Page Management: Easily toggle pages between published and draft status directly inside both the website canvas and funnel step menus.

FAQ's:

What happens to a page's SEO authority when I unpublish it in GoHighLevel?

Unpublishing a page removes it from public view. If you use the native redirect option to send visitors to a relevant live URL, you help preserve user flow and search equity instead of serving a dead link.

Can I unpublish individual pages inside both Websites and Funnels?

Yes. The unpublish workflow functions across both the Website Builder and Funnel Builder platforms within GoHighLevel.

Where do visitors go if I don't set a custom redirect URL for an unpublished page?

Visitors will be directed to your system's default 404 error page unless you assign a custom 404 page in your domain management settings.

Will unpublishing a single page affect the rest of my site's domain setup?

No. Taking a single page offline affects only that specific URL, leaving your primary domain mapping, SSL settings, and remaining pages live.

Can an unpublished GoHighLevel page be republished later without losing design work?

Yes. Unpublished pages remain saved as drafts inside your account builder so you can update and republish them at any time.

[0:00] Hey there! Welcome to my YouTube Channel! In this short video I'm going to show you a cool new feature that just came out from GoHighLevel. It's available in your AlphaBlossom CRM. if you're one of our members as well. And this is the ability to Unpublish a website page. Or a funnel page. So in the past anytime you published a page there was no way to unpublish it. So if you're no longer using that page it may still e showing up inside of the search engines. People might still be going there. If you try to delete it it could cause other problems. Where just the domain is just broken. That's just bad for SEO in general.

[0:32] It's also bad for a user experience. So luckily HighLevel just released this feature today. And I'm going to show you exactly how to use it. All the little nuances that you need to know. How to publish. And unpublished pages. And also you can redirect them in an SEO friendly way. So let's jump into it. I'm going to show you how how to do this on the other side. And I've got some links down below. If you're new to HighLevel or if you're just starting your agency journey you got a 30 day free trial down below. With the free bootcamp as well. And also I've got my free community down below. If you'd like to join there as well.

[1:01] So let's get into it. And I'll see you on the other side. Okay. We are inside of websites. And I'm going to show you this works with funnels or websites. So now you see I've got all my website pages here I've got all my website pages here for my main website. for my main website. And we can let's say we preview this page here. And let's say I decide I no longer want this page to be available. So I can come in here. Now I can go edit. And unpublished page. And it gives me two options. One is a Standard 404 page. That means if somebody clicks on this link and they come in to the page it's going to take them to a 404 page.

[1:42] And I've got other videos showing you how to set up a custom 404 page. So it doesn't just say 404 but you can have a better user experience where you can say “Hey! this page no longer exist” “Fill out this contact form or go to this other page instead” So I would recommend creating a custom 404 page exactly for this reason. But this will let you send people to that 404 page. Whether it's a custom one or the default one. And then you can also do a custom redirect page. So let's say I click that. Now I can redirect to any other page inside of this funnel. So I can come in here and I could say maybe I just want to send t to the home page.

[2:14] Or I want to send them to the “How it works”page. And then I can click Unpublish. Now if somebody visits this URL it's going to send them to my How it works page. And the other option is you can enter a custom URL. So if you have a different website or a different page or community. Or YouTube channel. Or wherever you want to send them. You can instead enter that URL here and send them to that URL instead. So maybe I'm going to say. (gobonsai.ai) And then when I click Unpublish. Now if we visit this page. You can see it sends them to my social media app. (gobonsai.ai) And so beautiful. So now no longer have to worry about people doing that.

[2:59] It also shows unpublish here. So it's very obvious which pages are published and unpublish. And if you want to republish it. You can just come in here and publish the page directly. And then also I'll just show you this. If you go to the edit screen here. You can also do this from inside of here. So if you click on your pages here. You've got the three dots. So you can now publish and unpublish. from here. I'm going to republish this page. So let's just come in here. I'm going to click the three dots. And also. Let's just do this really quickly here. So we've got our pages. So yeah let's just publish that. And then I'm going to just head over to funnels and show you that as well.

[3:37] So we'll publish the page again. And now it's been published. So if we go to our pricing page. And click on the link. It once again takes me to the pricing page. So. Amazing tha we finally got this feature added. It is per page. So there's currently no way to do it on the website. But you can delete websites and we have redirect options. If you go into Settings. And Domains URL Redirects. You can do some redirects in here. So if you go into manage. Let's say you wanted to. The URL redirecting. Click that here. And you can set up redirects here. So add a redirect. And you can redirect from domains. And redirect to something else.

[4:20] So we do have some options there as well. But the nice thing about this is it lets you do it on a per page basis. And then finally we're going to just go into funnels. It's a little bit different. User interface here. So let's see what we got published here. Let's come in here. And it's the same thing here. You can unpublish the page. But inside the editor it's a slightly exactly the same thing. This is also a nice new touch that they've just added. So if you click here. And you click on the pages. As it's on websites it gives you this pop up here. And you can actually add a new page from here.

[4:51] Previously it used to pull it up in the sidebar so you'd have to go over there and click again. But now it's just all in this location here. And you can just do everything directly from this little drop down menu. So you can again unpublish publish. So if you click unpublish it'sgoing to give you the same pop up inside of here where you can enter that information. So. And again just to really go over this. As to why this is important. If you're concerned about SEO at all having broken links is really bad for your SEO. And so this allows you to go through. And clean up any broken links that you might have. And also it's just a bad user experienced.

[5:24] If you have a page that has an ffer on there and that offer is no longer valid. Somebody clicks it and they want to buy. They're interested in buying. Or maybe they can somehow purchase it at the wrong price. And then you have to contact them and say “Oh sorry that was an old page”. The price is not right. It’s not a good experience for somebody. So it's going to be a bad look for you. Maybe you're going to lose them as a customer. So I would definitely go through and make sure that you keep your pages optimized. And then while we're in here. I just wanted to show you one more thing. We talked about the 404 page.

[5:51] So you an actually create custom 404 pages. And. So let me show you what I've got. If you go to Websites. And back to my AlphaBlossom. I've got this custom 404 page. And we built just a simple page. You can see here when somebody gets the wrong page. Normally it would just be a blank page. With the 404 on there. So it's not really a great user experience here. You've got Go to Home Page or Contact Us. And then Contact us. Just takes you to the contact form. So it's a much better experienced. So you can pull whatever you want on here too. So you can control the experience somebody has. If they get on a page that no longer exist.

[6:25] Where do you want them to go. Do you want them to contact you. Or do you want them to take some other action. And so these are just really easy to set up. You just build this like you would normally in the builder. And then when you go into your Settings and domains. Let me get in there. And then we go to our main domain to manage it. I'm going to manage this domain. And then here you can see with your main domain that's connected to funnel website and blog. You simply click edit. And now you've got a an option to set your 404 error custom page. And if you hover over the icon it explains what that's for.

[7:00] And then you can just select any of the pages that you have on your site. You can search for those pages. You can see I've got my 404 error page. And you save that. And now when somebody gets a page that no longer exists they're going to go to your custom page instead of the blank ones. So that was a little bonus tip for you there. Hopefully you found it helpful. And I'll see you in the next video. Alright! Guys and Gals. That's it. Super easy. But very important especially if you're concerned about SEO or user experience. So even if you're not dealing with SEO here it's still a bad user experience for somebody to visit a link.

[7:31] Maybe they found a link in one of your social posts. They click the link and go to a broken page or something that just has information that's no longer correct. It's just going to give them a bad experience. So make sure if you've got those pages you get in there and you know how to redirect them. Now you know how to unpublish them. So let's do that. And I will see you in the next video.
